My name is Isabel Hall and I've been running Compton Quilting Services with my husband, Don Kennedy, since 2003, when we bought our first Gammill longarm machine. My sewing past is chequered to say the least, from early days of repeated 'unsewing' of poor embroidery stitching at school, through various City and Guilds courses to my current full-time job completing customer quilts. My favourite quilts to make, tend to be bright colours, heavy on the batiks, but I love seeing and working on other combinations and designing quilting to complement the patchwork. I still enjoy learning new patterns and am currently working on improving my applique skills. Over the years, I have taught various sized groups everything from Somerset patchwork Christmas tree decorations to Pineapple walllhangings and lots of quilts inbetween. I hope to pass on my love of pattern and colour to new enthusiasts.
My name is Susie Green - I live in Surrey - and, like you, I have an addiction to fabric. It all started in 1978 when I made my first quilt - badly, I have to say - but the seed was planted. In 2002 I bought a Gammill Longarm Quilting Machine and commenced my business called Duxhurst Quilting. You can imagine how many beautiful and inspiring quilts I've seen during this time. I have also taught patchwork and quilting both from home and various shops, never ceasing to be excited by people's choices and interpretation of colour. Quilters are a like-minded species, don't you think - colour fascination, design, often gardening and, of course, food.
